Itinerary Description

The arrival of Columbus in America opened the doors to one of the largest cultural transformations in the history of mankind. Over 500 years later, Colombia still retains its cultural ancient identity with more than 87 indigenous groups. The Arhuacos, Chimilias, Kogis and Wiwas are four of the groups that live in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta’s foothills. Their overall population is estimated around 10.000 members. These “Older Brothers” -as they named themselves- take care of the natural treasure of the Sierra, mountain which in their culture represents the center of the world and main fountain of life. They still assume their role as keepers of cosmical stability and are considered one of the most valuable ancient cultures on Earth.
